I am about 3/4 of the way through this book. It's about a guy from 2011 who time travels back to Sept 1958 in order to stop Lee Oswald from killing President Kennedy. One of King's best!

I read The Help a few novels (months) ago. LOVED it...and then dragged hubby to the movie :->. Loved it as well...kind of emotional, but so FUNNY about The Terrible Aweful!

Hope you're doing well--will be traveling to Spokane week after next to see the five other grandkids :-)

I ran into Dale Bunke back in 1985 when I came up to Spokane with my oldest son to stay with my folks for a few months. At the time, he was just getting into selling some kind of insurance. I still wonder about him.

Hooked up with Greg Evans 7/2010

I got a call from my old friend Greg Evans last week as he was driving up from Texas on his way to San Diego. He came in to Phoenix and we were able to spend some time together reminiscing about the good times we had in High School. Greg is doing well; he is the School Superintendent (go figure) for a district outside of Dallas. Anyway, we played a little golf followed by an evening of Sushi and laughs.

Books:The Help

The Help was a book we read while driving that was another one of the best she's read to me. It takes place in the 60's and is about 3 women. One white lady around 18 or older and two women of color that are maids for white families. The white woman wanted to find out and write a book about how the maids felt about the white families they worked for. It was about the maids developing trust in a white woman and the white woman learning about the strugles of being a woman of color. It takes place in Jackson Mississippi and has humor as well as sad things going on in it. This was my wifes favorite book we have read.

If know of any good books please post it we are always looking for something good to read while traveling

Ran into Steve Hoerner class of 1981

Ran into Steve Hoerner at Haskins steel today. Steve graduated from Mead in 1981 and has started a business selling and making aluminum and brass casting parts. Steve and his wife ship parts all over the world to people who want to learn the trade of casting aluminum and brass. If you Google LOST & FOUNDRY or www.foundry101.com you can check out thier site.
I ran into James Crisler

I dont know if you all remember James Crisler from school, but James was a fellow from the class of 1980. James had to use 2 crutches and leg braces to walk. It was a real touching moment when James walked across the stage at the 1980 graduation. James goes to the same church (Calvary in the old Fairwood mall) as we do. He hasnt change much and he was telling me about a trip to Seattle in a three wheel car that he has. It is a retired parking meter patrol car and he took it to Seattle and I think he was talking about a trip to Minnisota?

Ran into Larry Jack

I ran into Larry Jack and spent a hour with him catching up with what he has been up to in the last 30 years. I learned quite a bit about Larry that I had no idea had happened. During school both his parents passed away. One when he was 19 and another when he was 21. I wish I had known back then. Larry seems to be enjoying life and is living in Spokane. We will be setting up a profile soon.

I ran into Bob Cunningham who was a 1981 Mead grad. He is all gongho on getting a "All Mead class reunion" together. He has done a number of things over the years like setting up cell towers to going around the country setting up concrete outhouses (I think in National parks)

Books: The Glass Castle

My wife and I had to drive down to Pomeroy Washington (2.5 hours) to care for her dieing grandma quite often. Jeannie started reading out load in the car and it was a real life saver for the long drive down and back. She had read me some good books but the one we are reading now is by far the most interesting book we have read. It's about a little girl growing up with a nut case mom and a drunk dad and two sisters and a brother. By far the best book we have ever read. She talkes about all the crap they got in school because of thier parents. The name of the book is The Glass Castle by Jannette Walls. True story and she has another book out about her grandmas family called Half Broke Horses. Two of the best books we have ever read. The Glass Castle was I think between 1955? and I think up to now.

Any one else read any good books?
